How do I log seizures for my child from my own phone?

Short answer: keep the diary on the phone that’s usually with you, log what you see as it happens, and add the ones you hear about later from teachers or others as separate entries marked secondhand. Présence is meant to be used by a parent or caregiver on a child’s behalf (privacy policy).

Steps

  1. Set up a simple profile. A name and age are enough. Medications and other details are optional and stay on your phone.
  2. Make starting the timer easy. Use the two-tap timer, or say “Hey Siri, Start Presence.” You can also put Start Timer in Control Center, on the Lock Screen, or on the Action button (Support).
  3. Add the ones you didn’t see. When school or a sitter tells you about one, add it later with their estimate and a note like “reported by teacher.”
  4. Keep it light. Length plus a tap or two of context is enough. You don’t need perfect notes. Gaps are normal.
  5. Look back now and then. Before appointments, scroll your history or export a report.

What it doesn’t do

Présence logs what a person notices and enters. It can’t detect episodes, watch your child, or alert anyone, so a missed episode simply isn’t in the log. It also doesn’t sync between two parents’ phones. If two caregivers both log, decide who keeps the main diary, or let one export a report for the other.

Présence is a personal wellness diary, not for emergencies. It doesn’t diagnose, treat, monitor, or alert. This guide isn’t first aid. Follow your child’s individual seizure action plan. If an episode is different from their usual pattern or you are unsure what to do, contact their care team; get emergency help for immediate danger such as trouble breathing or serious injury.
